SJP Theatre Arts (“we”, “us”) is a theatre school based on Bromsgrove High Street, Worcestershire. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website, sjptheatrearts.co.uk. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at sjptheatrearts@yahoo.com.

The information we collect

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, plus some limited technical data about how the website is used.

  • Enquiry and enrolment forms. When you send an enquiry or enrol a student we collect your name, email address, phone number, the student’s name and age, the classes you are interested in, and anything else you include in your message, such as information about additional needs that helps us teach your child well.
  • Newsletter signup. If you join our mailing list we collect your email address so we can send occasional emails about term dates, shows and workshop places.
  • Email correspondence. If you email us directly we keep the correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry.
  • Website usage data. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are popular. This uses cookies and collects information like your device type and approximate location. It does not tell us who you are.

Children’s information

Most of our students are children, so information about them is central to what we do. We only collect information about a child from their parent or guardian, and we use it solely to run our classes safely and well. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiries and arrange visits or trial sessions (legitimate interests).
  • To enrol students and run our classes, including keeping the contact and consent details we need (performance of a contract).
  • To look after students safely, including any additional needs or medical information you choose to share with us (consent, and in an emergency, vital interests).
  • To send our newsletter to people who have asked for it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email (consent).
  • To understand how the website is used so we can improve it (consent, via the cookie banner).

We never sell your information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services we rely on to run the school and this website:

  • Email and forms. Form submissions are emailed to us and stored securely on the website for a limited time. Our email is provided by Zoho Mail.
  • Newsletter. Mailing list addresses are held by Mailchimp, our email newsletter provider. Mailchimp may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
  • Analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, usage data is processed by Google Analytics.
  • Hosting. The website is hosted by a professional hosting provider that stores site data securely.
  • Class bookings. When you enrol or book through our booking portal (tempo-book-it.com) your details are handled by that service under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.

Cookies

When you first visit the site you will see a cookie banner. Essential cookies keep the website working and are always on. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiry and enrolment submissions made through the website are deleted automatically after 12 months.
  • Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Copies of emails sent by the website are kept for a short period for troubleshooting and then removed.
  • Information about current students is kept while they attend the school and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email sjptheatrearts@yahoo.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Keeping your information safe

The website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, access to personal information is limited to the people who need it, and we use reputable providers to store and process data.

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
